Ayn Rand on Conservatives

Sadly, Ayn Rand was right. We see her words bloom into reality as we watch conservative  leaders try to mix government control and entitlements with capitalism.

It’s disturbing how many conservatives will drop all their anti-big government proclamations in order to line step behind the GOP by supporting people like John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Paul Ryan. Conservatives are good at giving us talking points and pointing out the problems with liberalism, but when it comes to being consistent and applying these same principles to their own camp they fail miserably.

My favorite conservative cop-out is “God is in control“. This is nothing but an excuse to compromise instead of fighting for what is right. My advice is simple to these people, if God is in control then stay at home and do not vote. But then again, I guess God controls rape, child molesters, incest, murder, allows abortion, Dennis Lynn Rader, Hitler, etc. after all the bad must come with all the good.

The failure of conservative leaders and talk radio in 2012!

If these so-called conservative talk show host exposed Mitt Romney in the same manner they went after Obama in 2008, then I do not believe Romney would have gotten out of the primaries. This is yet another example of how El Rushbo and crew failed their audiences by not hammering Mitt Romney using Mitt’s own words. BUT NO they sat back and claimed they would let the primaries work themselves out and “Anybody but Obama!” If they challenged Romney on Romneycare, it was with softball questions and a warm smile!

It’s time the people supporting the GOP and people like Limbaugh, Hannity, and Gallagher accept the fact that these people are nothing but ear tickling party hacks. These people did not do their job and expose Romney as the progressive liberal he is during the primaries and now they tell us to vote for him because of his big government, bail out begging, partner Ryan!

Wake up America!

Why did Rush not go after Mitt Romney when Romney supported abortion, socialized medicine, gun control, and even admitted he was a progressive? Why?

Romney supports the NDAA! Wake up America!

“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Benjamin Franklin

So how in the hell is Mitt Romney any better than Obama? To those who claim to be Tea Party, conservatives, and who claim “anybody but Obama“, please explain to me how Mitt Romney will uphold your rights when he supports the NDAA!

I fear too many American’s are running towards enslavement in the name of security! Wake up America before you turn around and realize you are living in a police state that rules by fear and oppression. When that day happens, it will not matter if those in charge have an R or a D in front of their names because your rights will be gone.

I am really disappointed with all the conservative talk show hosts during this election cycle.

I am really disappointed with conservative talk show hosts during this election cycle. This year, with the progressive Mitt Romney likely to be the GOP presidential candidate, it’s a unique opportunity for hosts like Rush Limbaugh to stand against the GOP establishment and to stand for the liberty and freedoms of the American people. Instead of cowing down and/or making excuses, ignoring Romney’s progressive records, and being a long-faced sheep, these talk show hosts should encourage the people to either vote for Gary Johnson, write in a name, or simply boycott the presidential election and focus on the Senate and House.

Actually, the truly disturbing thing was early in the primaries these talk show hosts did not do their job in exposing Romney. They were often vocal of Ron Paul’s stand on international affairs, but were, in my opinion, very soft against Romney, Santorum, and Gingrich.

It’s easy to take a hard stand against Obamacare and the Supreme Court because those are political talking points. The truly hard thing to do is take a hard stand against your own party and supporters.

If people like Rush Limbaugh truly had the fire of a man like Patrick Henry, then we would hear them defy the GOP by standing against the GOP’s progressive agenda. I fear that instead of being like Patrick Henry, they have chosen to be like Benedict Arnold and put their careers in front of the needs of the American people. Truly, these so-called conservative Tea Party-supporting talk show hosts have failed us, the people! They have taken the middle ground with Romney while attacking the Democrats in order to deflect Romney’s problems.

In the end, people like Limbaugh and Hannity will defend Romney under the heading of “Anybody but Obama” and/or “This is what the primary process gave us, and even if we don’t like it, we must defeat Obama!” They will defend Romney all because of the “party” while down talking any 3rd party movements and those who wish to consider another option. They will advise us to stand together and defeat Obama while ignoring the fact that Romney’s ideology represents the same problems as Obama’s ideology, just not as openly or as fast-paced.

Now that Romney has picked Paul Ryan to be VP, these conservative talk show hosts are a buzz with how great Ryan will be and how he will cut waste with his budget ideas. They will uplift Ryan as a fiscally responsible defender of small government and a friend of the tax payer. What they will fail to tell you is that Ryan is a big government, bait-and-switch, DC politician whose record has the glaring marks of TARP, No Child Left Behind, and other big government wasteful entitlements. These talk show hosts are no different than their liberal counterparts in how they spin the facts, create defenses for Ryan, and ignore his record. If anything is pointed out about Ryan’s record, they all hide behind, “Well nobody is perfect, and he is better than Obama!

I have been told by many that if I do not vote for Romney, then it is a vote for Obama. I refuse to betray my core beliefs about capitalism, liberty, and personal freedom from tyranny just to win an election by voting for a progressive with an R in front of his name. So, I am not the one throwing my vote away. Those who are willing to compromise and vote for Romney are the ones throwing away our country’s future!

And another thing, if you claim to be Tea Party and you were bought with Ryan’s nomination as VP, then please stop and ponder Ryan’s record. There is nothing about Ryan that is Tea Party and/or free market.

End rant…

This is not a defender of small government and the free market system.

James Madison on the 10th Amendment

“The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation and foreign commerce. … The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives and liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement and prosperity of the State.” James Madison
